#1. Parkes Castle.
Parke's Castle is a restored 17th century castle and bawn located on the picturesque shores of Lough Gill and was the home place of Robert Parke and his family.
The Courtyard grounds contain evidence of an earlier 16th century Tower House structure once owned by Sir Brian O'Rourke who subsequently was executed at Tyburn, London in 1591. The Castle has been restored using Irish oak and traditional craftsmenship.
Access for visitors with disabilities to ground floor. Open April - September, admission fees.
#2. Indoor in Carrick On Shannon
Because we know it rains sometimes too! Head to Mulveys who have an indoor playcentre, bowling and arcades. A spot with fun for all the family.
#3. The Shannon
A trip on the Shannon is a must do! Try Moon River Cruises for a short spin, or why not have a family break and hire a cruiser?

#4. Glencar Waterfall
Glencar Waterfall is particularly impressive after rain and can be viewed from a lovely wooded walk. There are more waterfalls visible from the road, although none is quite as romantic as this one.
There are also on-site picnic facilities and an information kiosk.
Why not take the kids horseriding at Moorlands in Drumshanbo who do treks, lessons and outrides.
Or try Drumcoura City which is a Western style dude ranch overlooking the beautiful lake 'Drumcour' which is surrounded by mountains and hills set in the unspoilt region of Co.Leitrim and which for the experienced and novice horserider.
#6. Fowleys Falls.
Why not try out the Nature Trail at Fowleys Falls near Rossinver. There's a nice nature walk with picnic tables, a real little hidden gem and an easy walk for young kids.

#7. The Organic Centre
Head to The Organic Centre, pick up a few tips, explore their gardens and breathe in the fresh air!
Their aim is to promote organic gardening and sustainable living through training, demonstration and the provision of information.
As well as demonstration organic gardens with 7 polytunnels, an orchard, outdoor gardens, ornamental beds and a woodland, there's a small playground & picnic area.
#8. The Beach!
Top quiz question - the county with the shortest coast, it's Leitrim! :) So why not head to Tullaghan Beach! It's amazing to think that Leitrim actually has a coastline, it's a small coast of about 3 miles, between Sligo and Donegal.

Two fabulous days out which are just on the border of Co Leitrim, so I think they really qualify!
