May Book of the Month - On Canaan's Side by Sebastian Barry

Sebastian Barry's fifth novel begins with a question "What is the sound of an 89 year old heart breaking?" The heart in question is narrator Lilly Bere, who fled Ireland for America, at end of WW1.
