Connemara National Park Playground

Situated in the West of Ireland in County Galway, Connemara National Park covers some 2,957 hectares of scenic mountains, expanses of bogs, heaths, grasslands and woodlands. Some of the Park's mountains, namely Benbaun, Bencullagh, Benbrack and Muckanaght, are part of the famous Twelve Bens or Beanna Beola range. Connemara National Park was established and opened to the public in 1980.

Connemara National Park has worked in partnership with Go Play Ltd, Ireland’s premier provider of public playgrounds and safety surfacing in designing and installing this custom made playground for children to enjoy and explore! As well as the new playground there are lots to do in the Park, visitors can enjoy an exhibition on the Connemara Landscape, picnic areas both indoor and outdoor, nature trails and hill walks while getting the opportunity to see animals such as Connemara ponies, rabbits, bats and various birdlife. The playground is located adjacent to the visitor centre, near Letterfrack.

The playground has been divided into a junior area which caters for children aged two to six while the senior area caters for children from six to twelve. From spinning units to climbing equipment which assist children’s physical, mental and social skills it certainly promises to provide hours of endless fun for children. Young people can use the playground to play games and use their skills of balance, reflexes, strength, speed and imagination to enjoy all the equipment that this exciting new playground has to offer.

The equipment was carefully chosen so as to fit into the natural landscape of the Park and the surfacing is safagrass matting which also complements the natural setting.

As the playground is situated on a large site this gives children the opportunity to run free with plenty of green space to explore and exercise safely while benefiting from the great outdoors. After reaching the soaring heights of the climbing unit take a break to take in the whole playground while planning your next challenge, whether you want to quietly sit in the playhouse or spin until you are dizzy on the spinner bowl this playground has something to offer children of all abilities and ages.

With a spectacular backdrop this playground also has seating for adults and the park provides a fun day out for the whole family.
