Picnic Places in Dublin

You can't beat eating outdoors when the sun is shining and we are spoilt for choice for places to picnic in Dublin. Take a look at our Summer Picnic Recipes for some inspiration for different picnic foods and pack up the picnic basket to head out for some fresh air and outdoor fun!

The following are some of my favourite places to eat al fresco in Dublin  and the surrounding areas, would love to hear your favourite spots, let us know and we will add them!

The Dublin Mountains - Several of the walks and trails in the Dublin Mountains are great spots for a picnic, you cannot beat the view of the entire city on a clear day! The steep walk up to the Hellfire Club always builds an appetite! Tiknock Forest has a nice trail suitable for little legs and several picnic tables along the way. Massy's Estate is my personal favourite picnic spot in the Dublin Mountains.

Phoenix Park Visitor Centre - The visitor centre is always worth a visit and there are picnic tables beside it with lots of room to run around.

The Iveagh Gardens - You cannot beat the Iveagh Gardens for a little bit of peace and tranquility in the centre of Dublin! Located just off Harcourt Street, this is one park that is never full or loud! Beautiful flora and green areas and an impressive waterfall that never fails to impress the little people, you cannot beat a picnic on a lazy summer day here.

Malahide Castle - Gorgeous parklands, plenty of open space and a playground on site.

Airfield Farm - Airfield City Farm in Dundrum is another favourite, while there is a restaurant on site, there are also picnic facilities.

Other favourites spots into County Wicklow but very close by

Powerscourt- Worth the entry fee, Powerscourt gardens and waterfall is another ideal location for a picnic and afternoon out.

Glendalough - great picnic facilities on site, great walking trails and stunning scenery.
